Tentang PT. Sinar Sosro

PT. Sinar Sosro is a bottled ready-to-drink tea company that was the first of its kind in Indonesia and the world. The company was officially registered on July 17, 1974, by Mr. Soegiharto Sosrodjojo and is located in Jalan Raya Sultan Agung KM. 28, Medan Satria Bekasi.

The Sosrodjojo family began their business in Slawi, Central Java, in 1940, producing and marketing brewed tea under the brand name Teh Cap Botol. In 1960, Soegiharto Sosrodjojo and his siblings moved to Jakarta to expand their family business to the wider community in the city.

In 1965, the company tried to introduce Teh Cap Botol by using a taste-testing strategy, which involved visiting crowded places like markets and brewing tea on the spot. However, this method was not successful, as most of the tea spilled on the way from the office to the market. The company then tried to transport the tea in large pots using open trucks, but this method also failed.

Finally, the idea of packaging the tea in cleaned-up soy sauce or lemon bottles was discovered accidentally. In 1969, the company came up with the concept of selling ready-to-drink tea in bottles under the name Tehbotol Sosro, which combined the name of the brewed tea "Teh Cap Botol" and the name of the founding family, "Sosrodjojo." The design of the product underwent three changes, in 1969, 1972, and 1974.

Tehbotol Sosro is made using only natural and authentic ingredients, with tea leaves picked from the company's own plantations. The leaves are then processed into fragrant green tea, mixed with jasmine and gambir flowers, resulting in a unique flavor that is always of the highest quality.

Currently, PT. Sinar Sosro has 12 factories located throughout Indonesia, in Medan, Palembang, Jakarta, Tambun, Cibitung, Ungaran, Gresik, Mojokerto, and Gianyar. It also has factories dedicated to producing Prim-A mineral water, located in Sentul, Purbalingga, and Pandaan. (*as of 2021)

In its business expansion, PT. Sinar Sosro has distributed its products to all corners of Indonesia through sales branches located throughout the country. In addition, the company has also penetrated international markets by exporting its products, such as one-way packaging/non-glass bottled beverages, to several countries in Asia, America, Europe, Africa, Australia, and the Pacific Islands.

Currently, PT. Sinar Sosro produces several products, including Tehbotol Sosro, Fruit Tea Sosro, S-Tee, TEBS, Country Choice, and Prim-A mineral water.

As the company continues to grow, it was acquired by the holding company PT. Anggada Putra Rekso Mulia, or Grup Rekso, on November 27, 2004.

PT. Sinar Sosro has a vision of becoming a world-class beverage company that can meet consumer needs anytime, anywhere, while also providing added value for all stakeholders, "The Indonesian World Class Beverage Company."
